We'd rented a lovely cottage in the small village of Great Chart, Kent but we couldn't get the keys until 4pm. Instead of wasting the day and arriving late afternoon, we arrived at midday and enjoyed the sunshine (and a few drinks) in a pub just down the road from where we'd be staying.
It was great to catch up with everyone and have a few cuddles with the little one.
We got the keys and continued drinking in the cottage while a couple of people put some pizzas in the oven. The sun was still out so we made the most of it, soaking up the last of the rays from the garden.
The next day we decided to go for a walk to the nearby Godington House & Gardens. After walking around it for ages, without ever feeling like we were getting closer, we ignored a few 'private' signs and headed straight for it.
The grounds were beautiful and but before exploring them further it was time for tea! We sat down in the tea room for some scones (and too many flapjacks) to get some energy back before braving the cows!
There are lots of beautiful gardens within the grounds and we made sure to enjoy them all before heading home.
On the final morning the weather wasn't so kind, which meant we had no excuse but to get involved in games! There was a huge selection to enjoy but it was good to keep up my record of being the best bean farmer in town and the most honest trader in Nottingham :-)
Sadly, the bank holiday weekend was drawing to an end, which meant it was time to head home. We all said our goodbyes, while discussing the next time we all get to enjoy each others company again.
I can't think of a better way to enjoy a bank holiday weekend.
