The story of the happiest couple

The morning of the big day

It was Julia and Sam’s big day and as my alarm awoke me I heard the sound of rain on my window and heard a flood warning on the news…it looked like it was going to be a wet wedding, which was going to put a dampener on the outdoor fun and games the guys had planned for their guests.

However, as the morning continued the rain stopped and everyone was wishing the ominous clouds away. We arrived at the wedding venue and watched as everyone arrived in anticipation of what was going to be a lovely wedding. Sprits were high and there were lots of smiles on show.

Sam soon arrived looking very relaxed. Sam is usually quite a cool character and not even his wedding day could get him flustered. He was greeting the guests as they arrived when word spread that Julia was outside and we were moments away from starting the ceremony.

Suddenly Justin, one of Julia and Sam’s best friends, started playing Blackbrid by the Beatles and soon after Julia appeared glowing with happiness. It was clear to see just how happy she was, and her father beamed with pride as he led her down the aisle.

It was a lovely ceremony and before long the happiest couple I have ever seen were confirmed as husband and wife.

The reception

Once the ceremony was over, it was time to head over the road to the beautiful grounds at Goldney Hall, where the reception was taking place. As an added bonus, everyone was happy to see there was no sign of any more rain.

Drinks started being served with Julia and Sam making their way round the guests. Julia and Sam’s happiness was infectious and everyone seemed to be in such a good mood. The atmosphere was great.

The Speeches

It was soon time for the speeches to begin and Julia’s dad started proceedings with a lovely speech, recalling the days when Julia was young and expressing how proud he was of what his daughter has become. He was also keen to let Sam know he was very happy to have him as a new son-in-law.

It didn’t take too long for the tears to begin…

Now it was Sam’s turn to deliver a great speech. It is obvious after spending any time with his family just how close they all are and this was evident during the speech. He had a lot of great stories about growing up and he’s very thankful to all of them for making him the man he is today.

They’re a competitive bunch, and with his ‘little’ brother being one of his best men, he had some particularly funny stories in store for him, however, his brother was about to get the chance to get his own back…

Sam’s best men were next, with his brother taking the mic first. He did a great job of making Sam squirm and he was quick to remind Sam that no matter how competitive they are, he’s got his number when it comes to basketball.

Finally, it was Sam’s best friends chance to let us know what Sam can get up to. Another brilliant speech, which had Sam and Julia (and the rest of the audience) laughing throughout. The final toast was raised and it was time for the party to really begin.

The grotto

As the drinking really started, and the evening guests arrived, there was a surprise room for the guests. Goldney Hall has an especially cool feature. At the end of the garden under a huge turret, is a cave of wonders. It was built for the old owner of the land, who filled it with shells and stones from all over the world.

People were clearly intrigued as groups started to visit to see what all the fuss was about.

The first dance

Anyone who knows Sam, knows that he does not dance. It had even been mentioned that the two of them weren’t going to have a first dance. However, the biggest surprise of the night was about to begin as Julia had got changed into a gorgeous evening dress and the music started…they had been practicing a brilliant routine!

The shock on the everyone’s faces was great to see and the first dance looked awesome. They both looked like they loved it!

Party time!

The brilliant first dance set the tone for the rest of the night and everyone else was letting loose on the dance floor. Spirits were high and shapes were being thrown all over the place

The party continued well into the night and everyone was having a great time. A beautiful wedding day came to an end but the smiles were still beaming across everyone’s faces.
