The race is on

Every year the London Chinatown group host the Dragon boat festival, which sees a bunch of teams competing to win the trophy. Teams ranged from pro teams who train regularly to friends who had got together to give it a try. Each boat is led by the rhythm of a drummer at the front who controls the pace, making the races very dramatic.

This years event was held at the Royal Albert docks, which are the other side of the river to City Airport, which provided an extra interest of planes taking off and landing in the backdrop of the races.

Of course it wasn’t just about the racing, there was entertainment to be found away from the river. A host of live music could be heard playing on the central stage. There was traditional Chinese dancing around the event and of course there was a tonne of asian food stalls, serving up all of my favourite foods!

I'm a London-based street photographer drawn to the beauty of the urban landscape. My work explores the interplay of light and shadow, capturing the mood and atmosphere of city life. I favor clean compositions with strong lines and geometric shapes, often using a minimalist approach to highlight the essence of a scene. My color palette is typically muted and atmospheric, with a focus on creating a sense of mood and depth.
