StreetFest is a celebration of urban culture, which has been running for 8 years now. It’s full of amazingly talented people showing off their skills.
The first area I visited was the breakin’ stage where groups were competing in dance battles to advance to the next round. I couldn’t believe my eyes, the talent on show was immense and the respect each group had for each other was really good to see.

There were people of all ages competing but the girl who stole the show was this 8 year old genius (and her sister who wasn’t much older), who out-danced people much older. The girls won to 2 on 2 girls battles and they were also part of the group that won the main event.
To be able to pull of the moves (and be as cool as they are) at that age was super impressive. What’s more, they were so humble, shaking hands and embracing every opponent and judge after each battle. They really embodied the friendly culture that seems to exist among the breakin’ community.
Wherever you went at StreetFest there was live music being performed. There was so much variety to hear and all of it seemed sounded great. There was also a few people reading poems.
There was a huge number of people creating art all over the StreetFest venue. Graffiti artists were lined up side by side creating striking pieces, while other artists were also dotted around the place.
There were so many different styles on show.
Finally, I headed to the sports arena outside where there were all sorts of competitions going on. The in-line skaters took to the half pipe first, busting out some grinds and getting some huge air.
Team Voodoo were also there to impress with some freestyle unicycle skills.
The skateboarders were next, where once again the younger kids were showing all the rest how it was done.
